Best Health Monitoring Watches for Seniors 2024

Are you overwhelmed by the multitude of smartwatch choices on the market, especially when you're looking for one that meets your health monitoring needs at a low cost? After extensive comparisons and testing, I've identified five smartwatches renowned for their suitability for seniors.

These smartwatches are famous for their health monitoring features like blood pressure, blood oxygen, ECG, and heart rate. They are known for being user-friendly, accurate, durable, comfortable, and having long battery life. But which one is the best for you? I tried each one, and here are the results based on accuracy, senior-friendliness (including the number and quality of health apps, ease of setup, readability), battery life, price, and overall performance.

1. Best Overall: Fitvii 2024 ElectroPulse Smartwatch

  • Accuracy: 99.48%
  • Senior Friendly: 96%
  • Battery Life: 100%
  • Price: $124.98
  • Overall: 4.9/5.0

FitVii ElectroPulse Health Smartwatch with Heart Protection+BP+BG+SpO2 Dynamic Monitoring Supports Bluetooth Call and Fitness Tracking fitvii

The ElectroPulse smartwatch, the latest product from Fitvii in 2024, is undoubtedly the standout. After using it for half a month, I found its tracking accuracy for blood pressure, heart rate, and blood oxygen to be the best among the watches I tested. The watch alerts me when my heart rate is abnormal and can detect early signs of atrial fibrillation through the app, making it a great choice for early warning of potential health risks. Additionally, the ElectroPulse smartwatch is one of the few that supports blood glucose monitoring. Although its readings occasionally have slight inaccuracies, they are generally close to the actual levels.

The long battery life is a significant advantage, as recharging frequently is a hassle. During my two weeks of use, I never had to recharge it, earning it a perfect score for battery life. The Bluetooth calling feature is also a cool addition; I often use it to call my grandkids. I wear this watch daily, and it is unquestionably the best smartwatch for seniors.

Innovations in electro-pulse watch technology have been upgraded to the PulseMax smartwatch with fall detection. PulseMax features a newly integrated accurate fall sensor that automatically contacts your pre-set emergency contacts 10 seconds after detecting a fall or collision, greatly reducing the risk of delayed medical attention.

2. Most Popular: Fitvii GT5 PRO(PLUS)

  • Accuracy: 98.57%
  • Senior Friendly: 99.9%
  • Battery Life: 96.9%
  • Price: $129.9-$149.9
  • Overall: 4.8/5.0

Pros:

  • 24/7 automatic and continuous blood pressure monitoring.
  • Accurate health data. BB & BG data are calibrated to an accuracy of up to 98.96%, with an error within 5 points.
  • No APP subscription fee.
  • Easy to use APP.
  • Long battery life.(7 days)
  • Excellent after-sales service.
  • 30-day refund and 180-day repair.

Cons:

  • Blood pressure and blood sugar require calibration data before use.

Fitvii GT5 PRO(Plus) is also a very good health watch. This watch is a product of Fitvii. It is quite good in monitoring heart rate, blood pressure, blood sugar, exercise and other data. The product features are relatively small and light, suitable for the elderly, especially men. Since its launch, this watch has been the focus of many media and has received positive reviews from tens of thousands of customers. The Fitvii GT5 PRO(Plus) is even in short supply.

3. Apple Watch Series 9

  • Accuracy: 99.50%
  • Senior Friendly: 76%
  • Battery Life: 65%
  • Price: $399.99
  • Overall: 4.5/5.0

The Apple Watch Series 9 is very popular among my friends. It has the most app functionality of any watch on this list. However, I ended up not using most of the non-health-related apps. In terms of intelligence, the Apple Watch is top-notch, but it still has many shortcomings in health monitoring. The Apple Watch Series 9 seems more suited for younger users. For health monitoring, I primarily focus on the watch's blood pressure, heart rate, and blood oxygen features. The Apple Watch Series 9's health apps are not much better than those on the Fitvii GT5Plus smartwatch, and it doesn't support blood pressure monitoring. Considering this, the nearly $400 price is too high.

Its battery life also disappointed me. While it can extend to 36 hours in low-power mode, it still pales in comparison to the Fitvii GT5 Plus smartwatch. If you need the most powerful smartwatch on the market and are ready to charge it daily, the Apple Watch Series 9 is still a good choice.

4. Fitbit Sense 2

  • Accuracy: 98.65%
  • Senior Friendly: 80%
  • Battery Life: 85%
  • Price: $199.95
  • Overall: 4.4/5.0

The Fitbit Sense 2 is another popular choice among seniors, but it didn't truly impress me (nor did it disappoint). The health apps functioned well, but I noticed that the heart rate monitor lagged compared to the Fitvii GT5 Plus smartwatch and the Apple Watch Series 9. This was frustrating for me because early warnings of abnormal heart rates are crucial. Besides, the 6-day battery life is decent but not outstanding. The $200 price is reasonable but still about twice the discounted price of the Fitvii GT5 Plus smartwatch. In my ranking system, the Fitbit Sense 2 edges out the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, but frankly, I can't think of a compelling reason why this watch would be any senior's top choice.

6. Samsung Galaxy Watch 6

  • Accuracy: 99.34%
  • Senior Friendly: 70%
  • Battery Life: 70%
  • Price: $349.99
  • Overall: 4.2/5.0

Curiously, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 has also been mentioned in some renowned retirement lifestyle magazines. Its overall health monitoring accuracy is comparable to the Apple Watch and the GT5 Plus  smartwatch, but everything else is less satisfactory. The watch's design is too large and uncomfortable for most wrists. Its health monitoring functions only support heart rate and blood oxygen, lacking blood pressure and glucose monitoring, which significantly lowers its health monitoring score compared to the Fitvii GT5 Plus smartwatch. Moreover, the touchscreen isn't as responsive as I like, and the roughly three-day battery life is disappointing. Given the price, all these drawbacks make it far from the top choice for a senior health watch.

In general, if you are concerned about the health of the elderly and the convenience of use, we recommend the Fitvii GT5 plus, because an 80-year-old can easily master it. Of course, other watches are also good choices, and they are all making technological breakthroughs.
